Number 6!
Last week I decided to take part in the Classics Club Spin. The rules were simple – list twenty books from your Classics Club list, number them 1 to 20, and the number announced today (Monday) represents the book you have to read during May and June.
The book at #6 on my list is:
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
There were other books on my list that I was looking forward to more, but I’m quite happy with this one, I think. I haven’t read anything by Stella Gibbons yet and have been wanting to for years!
Have you read it? Did you enjoy it?
If you participated too, I hope the Spin has selected a great book for you.

I’ve read it, I loved it, and I hope you will too!
I’m glad to hear that, Jane! I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve never read Stella Gibbons. Can’t wait to hear how you like it!
She’s one of those authors I’ve been meaning to read for years and have just never got round to it.
I have Stella Gibbons too – Westwood.
I loved Cold Comfort Farm – it’s hilarious! Hope you will too.
I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Westwood as if I enjoy Cold Comfort Farm I might want to read that one too!
One of my favorites! I hope you like it.
Thanks! I hope it will become a favourite of mine too.
I haven’t read it, but I saw some of the film recently and it was a lot of fun. If it’s faithful to the book at all, you’ve got a really good result there.
That’s good to know. I haven’t seen the film so didn’t really know what to expect from the book.
This was on my reading list earlier this year but it got passed over for something else.I do want to read it, though, so I’m looking forward to hearing what you think!
I can’t wait to read it and will be sure to post my thoughts on it when I’ve finished!
I’m another one who loved it! (To my mind the film is fun but the book is better.) I hope you enjoy your spin.
Thanks. I’m really looking forward to reading it now after hearing so many of you say you loved it!
I read it when I was a teen, but not since. I just remember it being very funny! I drew Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates for my spin and I am looking forward to it.
I hope you enjoy Revolutionary Road. It’s not a book I’ve ever thought about reading, so I’ll be interested to see what you think of it.
I thought Cold Comfort Farm was a wonderfully fun read. I hope you will enjoy it too 🙂
Thank you! It sounds like a great book and I’m pleased I got it in the spin as I’ve been meaning to read it for a long time.
I was happy with the spin, I got Rebecca.
I’m glad you got a book you weren’t dreading, at least 🙂
Rebecca is one of my favourite books. I hope you enjoy it!
I LOVED CCF, it’s hilarious. Also a good movie adapation starring a young Kate Beckinsale and a dishy Rufus Sewell. Joanna Lumley is in it too.
I was not so lucky with my spin, I got Lady Chatterley’s Lover!!! Well, it is on my TBR Pile Challenge list so I guess I’ll finally get around to reading it. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Good luck with Lady Chatterley’s Lover. I’ve never attempted to read it but I’m sure it will be an interesting read!
