This week’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) is “Books on my Spring TBR”.
I’m expecting to read more than ten books this spring, but here’s a selection that are coming up soon on my TBR:
Some NetGalley review copies:
1. Enlightenment by Sarah Perry
2. The Puzzle Wood by Rosie Andrews
3. Close to Death by Anthony Horowitz
4. A Different Sound by various authors
From my Classics Club list:
5. The Elusive Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy
6. The Black Lake by Hella S. Haasse
For Read Christie 2024:
7. Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie
8. Three Act Tragedy by Agatha Christie
From the Walter Scott Prize longlist:
9. The Fraud by Zadie Smith
10. The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng
~
What are you hoping to read this spring?

I’ve ordered The House of Doors from the library and it’s on its way so hope to read that soon. Happy Spring reading!
Thank you! I’m looking forward to The House of Doors – I loved Tan Twan Eng’s last book.
I have to check out The Puzzle Wood! The title and the cover alone are intriguing.
I had a few problems with Rosie Andrews’ last book, The Leviathan, but The Puzzle Wood does sound good and I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it more.
The Puzzle Wood looks so good. I had A Different Sound on my radar but have picked up so many others from Pushkin that I’m wondering whether I’ll be able to actually get to them all.
Yes, Pushkin have been publishing a lot of very tempting books recently. I hope A Different Sound will be a good one!
I hope the new Zadie Smith is good, she was my find of last year and I want to read NW this year.
The Fraud will be my first Zadie Smith, so I’m hoping I’ll like her!
oh interesting, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think!
I’ve definitely got The House of Doors on my list.
I enjoyed The Garden of Evening Mists so I’m hoping The House of Doors will be another good one.
Me, too.
As ever some interesting books on your list. I’ve just read The House of Doors and really enjoyed it, my fave out of the books from the Sir Walter Scott Prize longlist that I’ve read so far. As others have mentioned will be looking out for the Rosie Andrews novel as enjoyed her first.
I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed The House of Doors so much. I loved The Garden of Evening Mists, so am looking forward to that one. I had mixed feelings about the first Rosie Andrews but will be interested to see what I think of The Puzzle Wood.
Nice list. I need to get to The Fraud.
I’ve never read anything by Zadie Smith so I’m looking forward to The Fraud!
Swing Time was my favorite the way it did in celebrity “humanitarians” lol
I hope you enjoy House of Doors and The Fraud. I, too, will be reading Enlightenment.
Thank you! I hope we both enjoy Enlightenment.
I’m also trying to read more Christie in 2024, but just on my own, not really as part of a challenge. I’m also interested in Close to Death because I’ve really enjoyed the Hawthorne and Horowitz series so far!
Here’s my list: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2024/03/19/top-ten-tuesday-spring-tbr-2/
Yes, I’ve enjoyed all of the Hawthorne and Horowitz books too. I’m looking forward to the new one!
I think I’m still one behind. I still haven’t read The Twist of a Knife. I have to get to that one before I get to the new one!
From your authors the only one I’m likely to have is Perry’s debut novel, and that’s lurking somewhere on my shelves. I’m just contemplating April at the moment, and I’m hoping to manage The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge, Journey by Moonlight by Antal Szerb, London Particular by Christianna Brand, and Yellowface by Rebecca Kuang.
I enjoyed both Melmoth and The Essex Serpent, so I’m looking forward to the new Sarah Perry. Just concentrating on April at the moment sounds like a good plan, and you have some interesting titles lined up – I’m hoping to read something by Christianna Brand soon as well and I always enjoy Elizabeth Goudge.
Weirdly I’ve not read Perry’s The Essex Serpent though I’ve enjoyed both Melmoth and After Me Comes the Flood – soon, eh? 🙂
Ooh…The Puzzle House looks intriguing! I’m off to look it up. 😀
It does look good!
I enjoyed The House of Doors and am looking forward to The Puzzle Wood. It’s ages since I read Lord Edgware Dies so I can’t really remember how I rated it, but Three Act Tragedy is one I’m fond of because of the character, Egg. Have fun!
The spring theme for the Read Christie challenge is ‘books published in the 1930s’ and those are the only two I haven’t read yet. I’ll look forward to meeting Egg!
Hi Helen, looks a wonderful selection of books, as always! I do hope you enjoy your spring reading. 🌼
Blessings, Jessica 💌
Thank you! I’m looking forward to reading all of these. I hope you enjoy your spring reading too 🙂
I am looking forward to reading Mrs Hart’s Marriage Bureau by Sheena Wilkinson set in the 1930s – she was in my school story discussion group and I have not found any of her previous books in the US.
Looks like there is a new Stacey Halls book coming but I have not finished the ones I have yet.
I asked for Wheel of Fortune by C.F. Dunn for Christmas and have not had a chance to read it yet – maybe in April! I need to freeze all my library holds and read some of the books I already own.
Yes, I’m hoping to read the new Stacey Halls book, The Household, in April as well. I enjoyed all of her others. Mrs Hart’s Marriage Bureau does sound good – I hope you like it.
