In a Lonely Place by Dorothy B. Hughes
I wasn’t expecting this one to come up, for some reason, but I’m quite pleased that it did! Hughes’ Ride the Pink Horse was one of my books of the year in 2021 and The Expendable Man in 2020, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this one just as much.

Interesting. I don’t think I’ve come across this author – despite being a huge Noir fan. I’ve probably seen the movie though – especially with Bogart in it! Added to my ‘interest’ list.

I’m quite jealous since this was on my list and I was secretly hoping it might come up! But I got Castle Rackrent instead and I’m pleased about that too, since I’ve wanted to read it for ages. I’ll be looking forward to hearing what you think of In a Lonely Place… 😀

I think I may have a free window sometime in April … But I also want to get back to Middlemarch which, being published in book form in 1872, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, so that’s definitely a must
