It’s time for another Classics Club Spin – the 30th, in fact! If you’re not sure what a CC Spin is, here’s a reminder:
The rules for Spin #30:
* List any twenty books you have left to read from your Classics Club list.
* Number them from 1 to 20.
* On Sunday 12th June the Classics Club will announce a number.
* This is the book you need to read by 7th August 2022.
I’m already busy working through my 20 Books of Summer list, so not sure if I will actually have time to read a Spin book as well, but I can’t resist taking part anyway!
Here’s my list:
1. A Laodicean by Thomas Hardy
2. Pied Piper by Nevil Shute
3. Shadows on the Rock by Willa Cather
4. Farewell the Tranquil Mind by RF Delderfield
5. The Chrysalids by John Wyndham
6. Wild Strawberries by Angela Thirkell
7. Moonfleet by John Meade Falkner

~
Which of these do you think I should be hoping for? I would love to get either Pied Piper or A Pin to See the Peepshow as both of those are on my 20 Books of Summer list, so I’ve included each of them on my Spin list twice to increase my chances! Otherwise, I don’t really mind which number comes up.
I see you have less than 20 books left on your list or you are repeating ones you really want to read. Gosh, you have so many good ones on your list that I don’t know which one to wish for. The most carefree would probably be Wild Strawberries, but since I have enjoyed two Nevil Shute novels now, I am curious what you have to say about the one on your list, which I haven’t read. My list is scheduled to go up on Saturday, although I’ll be at the beach that day, so I’m considering just doing a double post today or tomorrow.
I have 22 books left on my list, but there were a few that I’m really not in the mood for at the moment and as Pied Piper and A Pin to See the Peepshow are on my 20 Books of Summer list I decided to repeat those two. I’ll look forward to seeing your list!
That makes sense.
I hope you get Pied Piper since it’s on my 20 Books of Summer list, and it would be fun to compare notes! Otherwise I’d go for The Chrysalids. Good luck!
I would love to get Pied Piper as it’s one I’m planning to read soon anyway. I would be equally happy with The Chrysalids, though!
I hope it’s Jane and Prudence!
Yes, that would be a good result!
I actually just started reading A Pin to See
The Peepshow today! I’m reading it with a Middlebrow book group on Goodreads. So naturally I hope you get that one!
I hope you’re enjoying it! I’ve wanted to read it for such a long time.
I hope you get Strangers on a Train because, as you know, that is number 12 on my list too.
I’ll look forward to hearing what you think of it, if we both get that one!
The 30th spin! I am tempted. Will see. As for your rich list, I do wish you any of those two you have in your 20 summer books, otherwise, some I don’t know and others are by Bob iconic authors and they can potentially be great reads.
Thanks – I hope I get one of the books on my 20 Books of Summer list, otherwise I’ll be happy with any of the others. They are all books I’ve been looking forward to reading.
Pied Piper is one I really enjoyed, also Jane and Prudence. Random Harvest is excellent too with a surprise one really doesn’t see coming
I’m glad you liked Pied Piper and Jane and Prudence. I haven’t heard much about Random Harvest but added it to my list because I enjoyed some of James Hilton’s other books – I’m pleased to hear it’s good!
It is; in fact it turned out much better than I’d expected.
Good luck!!!
Thanks!
I definitely hope you get Peepshow – a wonderful book!
I hope so as well. I’ve wanted to read it for ages!
You’ve got lots of good books on your spin list! I’m a fan of Pym, Highsmith, and of course, Hardy. Fingers crossed you get one of those books on your summer reading list! Happy reading. 😀
Thank you! I’m hoping for one of the books on my 20 Books of Summer list, but I think I’ll be happy with any of them.
Moonfleet and The Trumpet-Major are two of my favourites. I’m a fan of Delderfield and would also like to read Farewell the Tranquil Mind I hope you get one of the books your wishing for.
I’ve loved all the other Delderfield books I’ve read, so I would be very happy to get Farewell the Tranquil Mind. Glad to hear you like Moonfleet and The Trumpet-Major. I haven’t read any Hardy for a while so would love to get that one.
