Top Ten Tuesday: Book Covers Featuring Autumnal Colours

This week’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) is: “Book Covers Featuring Autumnal Colors (submitted by Wordy Witterings).”

This was more difficult than I expected, but I’ve managed to find ten covers featuring shades of orange, gold, brown or dark red. These are all books I’ve read and I’ve provided links to my reviews.

1. The Autumn Throne by Elizabeth Chadwick

2. Case Histories by Kate Atkinson

3. Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel

4. Towers in the Mist by Elizabeth Goudge

5. Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie

6. Sugar Money by Jane Harris

7. Excellent Intentions by Richard Hull

8. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

9. Answer in the Negative by Henrietta Hamilton

10. The Invention of Fire by Bruce Holsinger

~

Have you read any of these? Which other books with autumnal covers can you think of?

I’ve read Case Histories, Towers in the Mist, and The Haunting of Hill House, though not with those covers. I found a few that could fit the theme from my recent reads, all mysteries — The Framed Women of Ardemore House, 10 Marchfield Square and Murder at Gull’s Nest. Orange seems to go along with the genre. Otherwise, I notice that the books I read tend toward blue and green. Interesting to look from this point of view!

That’s interesting. I’ve never really thought much about the colours of the books I read. A lot of mystery novels do seem to have orange on the covers, though!

Funnily enough I’ve just written my review for Answer in the Negative! I’ve read Bring up the Bodies and The Haunting of Hill House but haven’t even heard of the Christie, I’ve got a long way to go with her!

The Christie isn’t one of her better known ones and doesn’t have any of her famous detectives in it, but apparently it was one of her personal favourites.

A lovely selection of autumnal coloured covers! In particular, I think the cover for Excellent Intentions is really lovely. The only one I have read is The Haunting of Hill House. 😊🍂🧡

These all look stunning together. I’ve only read The Haunting Of Hill House out of them but I do have books by several of the other authors on my TBR. From Instagram tags I’ve realised that I have very few orange books on my shelves 😂

Please leave a comment. Thanks!
